A group of scientists and amateurs in the Icelandic Glaciology Society drove up onto the Vatnajökull glacier and into the Grímsvötn crater which erupted last year. The Grímsvötn volcano is one of the most active volcanoes in the world with recent eruptions in 1996, 1998, 2004 and 2011. What…
There is a distinctive confidence to Icelandic women; it’s been suggested their independence was forged through centuries of watching their male partners head off to sea, while they dealt with everything on land. Whether there’s any truth in this, they certainly seem to have an innate toughness. When I ask a young woman in a sandwich shop if she believes Iceland is a feminist country, she says her colleagues have been discussing this, and their conclusion is: “You don’t fuck with Icelandic women.” She narrows her eyes behind her pink vintage glasses.

I was in Húsavík this summer, and I was going to make a second attempt at going to this museum, but we were there like 5 mins after it closed :(. Damn you whalewatching for being so exciting….

Ignasi Miquel and his family. Freaking adorable.

So Iceland is out :((((((((
If we had scored one more goal last night we’d be in the semis :(((
Anyway, they are still awesome:
Rúrik was captain (fapfapfap)
They have their first names on the kits because no one uses last names in Iceland. If you say Sigurðsson I won’t have any idea who you’re talking about. Tell me ‘Gylfi Þór’ and I’ll know exactly who.
We scored 3 goals:
Numero uno: Kolbeinn Sigþórsson
Numero dos: Birkir Bjarnason:
Numero tres: Hjörtur Logi Viðarsson:
My future husband, Aron Einar Gunnarson
Gylfi threw his jersey into the crowd :333
I’m very disappointed that we came so close to making the semis, but I’m ridiculously proud of this team. After all, we are only 300.000, this was the first time a men’s team had made a tournament and they made us all very very proud :D
